Elizabeth 007
What does the world's greatest spy have in common with Queen Elizabeth? Nothing we hope. Other than the fact that James Bond serves Queen and country, the world was delighted when Queen Elizabeth made a memorable arrival at the opening ceremonies of the Olympics in 2012 with the help of the super spy. She and her corgis appeared alongside Daniel Craig looking as one would imagine, hilariously serious. Over her reign, there have been seven actors who have played the iconic British spy and the Queen has met almost all of them.
Queen to Queen
Just four years into her reign in 1956 Queen Elizabeth met Hollywood glamour queen Marilyn Monroe at a Royal Film performance of the The Battle of River Plate. The two women were both 30, yet we have a feeling that they had absolutely nothing in common. Just a hunch. Since then Queen Elizabeth has met other queens from the entertainment world including the Spice Girls, Meryl Streep in 1997 and even a Lady in 2009 - Lady Gaga.
Pop Queen
The Queen didn't need to be Warhol'd to know that she has a permanent place in pop culture. Never the less, Andy Warhol, King of Pop Art, immortalised Queen Elizabeth in his signature portrait style that made her look, for lack of a better word, cool! Warhol was also known to have said: "I want to be as famous as the Queen of England."
Show Queen
It's weird to imagine Queen Elizabeth sitting down to watch TV. But she does! The Queen is apparently a massive fan of the historical drama Downton Abbey and loves pointing out historical inaccuracies on the show (Ms know it all). She has also visited the set of Game of Thrones and met some of the actors. Look at her eyeing the Iron Throne. Awkward . . .
Tweeting Queen
Just because she's the Queen of England, doesn't mean she can't try and rule the social media world as well (sorry Kardashians). The Queen joined Twitter in 2009 and Facebook in 2010, with a page called the British Monarchy, which features all things royal. Unfortunately, no one is allowed to poke the Queen. She also launched a YouTube channel for the royal family in 2007 called the Royal Channel, making her annual speech more accessible to all you millennials out there.
