And we mean very young. Elle starting acting when she was just two years old. While we were still learning to walk and talk, Elle was playing the younger version of her big sister, Dakota, in I Am Sam and later in the miniseries Taken. Also, Elle played twins in The Door in the Floor because the producers were so impressed with her that they decided not to cast an actual set of twins.
Hollywood Royalty
Not only is Elle considered one of the most talented actresses of her generation but turns out she actually has ties to the Royal Family. According to a historian from Ancestry.com, Elle is the 22nd great-granddaughter of King Edward III, who ruled England during the fourteenth century. Yikes. And, Kate Middleton 's mother, Carole Middleton, also shares a bloodline to King Edward, which makes Elle a distant cousin of Kate Middleton!
Break Out
This might shock you (it definitely shocked us) but at 8 Elle was nominated for an Emmy for a role she did on House: M.D. But it wasn't until 2011 where Elle started to become a household name. It was in the amazing role as Alice Dainard in J. J. Abrams' sci-fi-drama, Super 8, for which she received amazing reviews and which won her a Spotlight Award at the Hollywood Film Festival.
Sister Sister
Imagine having a sister who was equally talented and successful as you? We'd assume that there would either be a lot of competition between the sisters or that all they did was talk about the industry to each other. Well, neither is the case for the Fanning sisters. Elle said that they never talk about films. So when they do talk it's always just about normal stuff sisters usually talk about.
Other Facts
Elle is obsessed with Marilyn Monroe and has photos of the icon in her room. Mary Elle Fanning is her real full name. Her mother chose the name Mary and her father chose the name Elle, so that's why she became Mary Elle. But Elle decided to go by her middle name instead. Elle isn't on twitter and has no interest in it. She's a much more visual person so you'll find her on Instagram. And reportedly Elle likes to learn her lines for a role the night before filming.
