Capitalising on this aspect of aspiration and dreams is a young and charming media personality, Ziad Batal, the executive producer of Media Group who has launched the ambitious project of the 12-part one-hour show CEO that is going to be telecast of Infinity TV.
He disputes the idea that the concept for the show is a direct lift from Donald Trumps' The Apprentice? "This show is absolutely different from The Apprentice. Here no one is fired and each one leaves with a great sense of satisfaction of being a part of the entire exercise. We are helping people to nurture their dreams through this show."
How does the entire concept evolve and how rigorous is the screening process? "The show is a reality-based show that searches the PAN Arab region for potential CEOs — self-driven individuals that compete to have their ideas bankrolled. We are looking for people with original ideas, determination and guts. The search will be conducted in all major Arab cities. Out of the application received, thirty contestants will be selected and evaluated. This number will then be thinned down to about ten who will then be invited for the finals in Dubai. The team of five women and five men respectively be followed by a camera crew for an entire period of two months. The telecast will also give the viewers to judge the participants on various parameters.
Ziad also acknowledges the massive support of Mishal Kanoo and other entrepreneurs for the show as it surely needs an entrepreneur to judge one in the making! "The show would be a great hit with both the sexes as it is a power play, and that is a great recipe for attraction and success! We have tried to keep the format very simple and all that one needs to exhibit is the belief in oneself! CEO is all about an ultimate lifestyle! It is all about branding and promoting the talents of the young Arab achievers."
Did you always want to be in the media and glamour business? "As a university student I was quite passionate about film making. My stint in the USA was a great learning experience in itself and meeting many well known film stars in the cafeterias and interacting with taught me a lot. One eye-opener was that fact that Hollywood places a lot of emphasis on creatives and I believe in creativity being integral to a show's success. With film festivals across the world promoting talent, showbiz is all set to scale greater heights. Bollywood has already made its presence felt internationally and I am sure Arabic films in the years to come by will truly go international. For our CEO show the teams from US and Dubai are working together and Malek Akkad a respectable figure in the Arab entertainment industry is going to be a part of the show as well."
