Many of us have continued to stay here for longer than planned or expected, primarily because of the safety, security, and opportunities this charming place offers. Dxbuzz spoke with a few Filipino expatriates on what makes Dubai tick for them, and why do they love to call it their second home:

I've been in Dubai only for less than year, but can honestly say that I greatly admire the strong leadership shown by the Dubai government and I like the way they instil discipline among the residents. I also admire the many scenic spots in Dubai and my most favourite place is the Dubai Museum and Al Fahidi Fort in Bur Dubai. After visiting the place, I've learned so much about the city and its history. I think I'll stay here for six to eight years.

What I like about Dubai is the discipline and quality of living that is up to world standards. If you work hard and have strong determination, you will be able to fulfil your dreams. If you work hard and be resourceful, your life will be good here; I would like to stay here for quite some time.

I like living in Dubai because this country is safe for everyone. I came here to earn a living and support the needs of my family. I'm planning to stay here and work for more years in preparation for my retirement. I plan to save money to support the same lifestyle that I enjoy here in Dubai.

Living in Dubai is economical and the people here are quite generous. I have been working here for eight years. I prefer to stay because life is quite comfortable and almost everything is accessible. But in order to succeed in Dubai, one should have guts and grab every opportunity that presents itself. I fervently pray to stay longer in the city as my wife and I are looking forward to a better future for our kids.

I've been a resident of Dubai for 10 years now. I came here to look for a greener pastures that would help my family back home since I am one of the breadwinners. I was worried at first, but the years passed, Dubai taught me how to live independently. The place is beautiful and, most of all, I love the security and safety it offers to everyone. I hope and pray that I can stay here for long because Dubai is my second home.
