Authorities in Ajman have closed down a shopping centre and fined its owner Dh5,000 after massive crowds thronged the venue for a discount scheme.

The flash sale resulted in unmanageable crowds of shoppers, and Covid safety rules were flouted.

A video shared by the Ajman Police on Saturday showed very little social distancing between shoppers.
