Family members, who have been following up each development closely, expressed relief as the mortal remains of their dear ones could be finally taken to their native places for the last rites.
Bodies were repatriated from Abu Dhabi International Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. Mortal remains of Jagsir Singh and Sanjeev Kumar will be taken to Punjab, and that of Kamlesh Bhatt to Uttarakhand.
Family members relieved
Inderjeet, brother-in-law of Sanjeev, said arrangements have been made to receive the body at the airport.
"The cargo flight with all three dead bodies will reach New Delhi by 1am Monday. Family members have arranged permits to travel," the Al Ain resident said after he completed formalities for repatriation at Abu Dhabi airport. "Family members have left in an ambulance for New Delhi. They were waiting for green signal from here."
Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Inderjeet said, offered full support to complete all paperwork on Sunday.
"They fulfilled all formalities at hospital and Abu Dhabi airport. They have assured there will be no issue at New Delhi airport. Family members were so distressed but now there is sense of relief."

Last rites in homeland
However, as state borders are sealed in India due to Covid-19 restrictions, travel by road is still a hurdle for families. Dubai-based social worker Girish Pant, who is in touch with the family of Kamlesh, has contacted higher officials in Uttarakhand to get necessary approvals for travel from Dehradun to Delhi.
"Family members were informed by New Delhi airport to receive Kamlesh's body. Their permit to travel across states is arranged," said Pant, winner of India's Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award. "I am grateful that Indian authorities have understood the sentiments of the families. These are all non-Covid deaths. Now all families will be able to conduct last rites in their homeland. Role played by embassy and media is praiseworthy."
