With a Dh10 contribution for one meal, you can help light up the 'world's tallest donation box' at Dubai's Burj Khalifa - spreading glimmers of hope across the UAE and the globe amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
Aiming to support the UAE's '10 million meals' drive, the extraordinary donation box was launched on Saturday by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), in collaboration with Burj Khalifa.
Companies, entities and individuals may purchase lights for the world's tallest tower at Dh10 each. And for every light bought through the website, www.tallestdonationbox.com, one meal is provided to someone in need.
The target is to donate 1.2 million meals or food parcels to people and families affected by the coronavirus outbreak in the UAE.
And reaching this target would mean seeing 1.2 million lights beaming bright from the façade of the Burj Khalifa.
"Throughout the campaign, you will see the impact of your contribution through the light you add to the world's tallest building and, eventually, to people's lives," as written on the campaign's website.
Representing donations as shining lights on Burj Khalifa reflects the hope that small acts of kindness can bring to less fortunate communities as the country continues its battle against the pandemic.
A countdown will be displayed on Burj Khalifa's façade and the initiative's website to track donations raised in real-time.
Donors will be able to share the pixels they bought on their social media to spread the word and encourage their friends and followers to join the initiative.
HOW TO DONATE
>Individuals can purchase pixels (LED lights) on Burj Khalifa for as little as Dh10 each and donate a meal through the website www.tallestdonationbox.com.
>The number of meals donors provide is relative to the number of lights they purchase.
>Individuals can provide their name and details and select the donation amount on the website or donate by selecting their preferred number of meals to purchase.
