Dubai Economy on Thursday ordered closure of two shops and issued warning to 12 others for not being compliant with the precautionary measures set to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Officials inspected 1,287 retail outlets and found 1,273 of them compliant with the regulations. No outlet was fined for not abiding by the precautionary measures.

One shop was closed for allowing the entry of customers who were not wearing face masks - which has been made mandatory when visiting shopping malls or commercial outlets as part of safety measures.

Dubai Economy has intensified inspection of commercial outlets following the reopening of the markets after the lockdown.

The inspections started with the market opening time in the morning and lasted till the markets closed. Dubai Economy directed traders to comply with the precautionary measures, such as wearing face masks and gloves, ensuring social distancing, and not conducting commercial activities between 10pm and 6am during the National Disinfection Programme unless previous circulars exempted the activity from closing and allowed 24/7 operations.

It also called on consumers to report any non-compliance to the Covid-19 precautionary guidelines via the Dubai Consumer App available on Apple, Playstore and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or on the Consumerrights.ae website.
