Dubai authorities have updated Covid safety protocols for outlets to follow from January 1, 2021.

The Dubai Economy took to Twitter to specify the new guidelines:

>> Thermal scanners and manual temperature checks are not required any more.

>> Valet parking protocols have been updated. A requirement of covering the steering wheel and seats with plastic has been done away with.

Earlier today, the authority tweeted that all businesses it inspected were found compliant with Covid safety measures.

"The business community in Dubai still continues with the highest levels of compliance with the guidelines with ZERO fines, ZERO closures, and ZERO warnings," it tweeted. "449 businesses were fully compliant with the precautionary measures that are set to limit the spread of Covid-19."

The updated safety protocols come a day after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced the extension of tourist visas for an additional month, without government fees. The move was announced in light of temporary airport closures and entry restrictions around the world.

Dr Omar Al Hammadi, the official spokesperson for the UAE Government, recently announced that the UAE is rated as the 10th best country in the world in treating the Covid-19 virus. Overall, the country has carried out about 20.6 million Covid-19 tests since the beginning of the pandemic.

“Thanks to the vision of our leadership, the UAE was a global example to follow in its response to the crisis. It dealt with the epidemic using a holistic approach, which contributed to limiting its spread and reducing its impact on all sectors of the state,” he said.
