Reflecting on the changed situation, experts feel the coronavirus has significantly transformed the contours of our personal and professional life.
Dr Mohamed Yousaf, specialist psychiatrist, Aster Clinic, Al Muteena, said: "It's okay to buckle down and not do all things that we've normally been doing, like, going to the mosque, joining community gatherings, going to the malls or meeting friends and family. People all over the world are worried, not just for their health. Everybody is equally responsible for others since they can be carriers of the virus and affect someone else. We cannot underestimate the power of this change on our collective mental health."
He further said: "Both young and old need to be aware of the situation and need to positively educate others, especially children, on the effects and importance of staying clean and washing hands."
Echoing similar sentiments, Dr Ameya Ghanekar, chief learning officer - Orange Zebras, strengths coach and TedX Speaker, said: "The new normal would be more hygienic and health conscious, for sure. It would include social distancing (whenever possible). Office may need more space to work and virtual relationships may see a new ray of hope. Sometimes, being on over-the-top platforms for considerable hours would also have to be considered as acceptable. The touch-feel would be replaced by virtual thumbs up, shake hand and emojis."
He added: "The new normal definitely needs to be a world that is cleaner and safer. However, we are not sure if it would give the same warmth to the conversations and relationships we used to have earlier."
