Pakistanis repatriated from the UAE were tested for coronavirus prior to their departure from the Dubai International airport on Thursday and only those tested negative were allowed to get onboard the aircraft.
The Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai, said passengers bound for Faisalabad on a special flight operated by Pakistan International Airlines underwent Rapid Coronavirus Test by the Dubai Health Authority officials.
The International Air Transport Association (Iata) on Wednesday opposed quarantining passengers on arrival and suggested that safety measures such as temperature checkups must conducted at the departing airport. It believes that quarantining passengers will slow down recovery of international travel.

Ahmad Amjad Ali, Consul General of Pakistan, Dubai, inspected Rapid Corona Test of PIA passengers bound for Faisalabad. The first two flights for which Rapid Corona Tests were conducted with negative Corona passengers allowed to board the plane.

"The Consulate has repatriated 5,883 stranded Pakistanis to-date through 26 PIA special flights and these special flights will continue. Those who have already registered with the Consulate are requested to wait for our call," the Consulate said.
The number Pakistanis who had registered to go back with the Consulate reached 63,000. Of them, more than 11,000 Pakistanis were those who had come on a visit visa in search of jobs.
According to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, around seven flights are scheduled between May 15 to May 21 by the PIA and the UAE carriers.
