Eight cafes were shut down by the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality for violating the ban on serving shisha.
Last week, the emirate instructed all cafés, restaurants, hotels and other outlets not to serve shisha until further notice as part of the ongoing efforts to reduce the spread of coronavirus.
Munther bin Shekar Al Zaabi, director-general, RAK Municipality, said they have been carrying out intensive raids across the emirate round-the-clock to ensure total compliance with the shisha ban. "More raids are in the offing and more stringent penalties shall be imposed on any erring outlet."
Two days back, the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department closed down 11 cafes for blatantly defying the shisha ban.
Massage centres, public parks, beaches closed

Meanwhile, the Department of Economic Development, RAK, has instructed all massage centres to temporarily stop their services until further notice.
The Department of Public Services Department in Ras Al Khaimah ordered temporary closure of all public parks and beaches under its supervision. The temporary closures are meant to ensure public safety and health.
