The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday announced 680 new cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases to 18,878.
577 new recoveries were also announced in the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 5,381.
The authority announced 3 deaths, with the total number of deaths reaching 201 in the country.
Some families continue to distribute food to their neighbors and this can spread virus. This traditions are deeply rooted in the UAE. People love to help others. But this practices might lead to the spread of virus to others.
Dr Farida Al Hosani, Official Spokesperson for the UAE Health Sector, said that opening public spaces doesn't mean we can ignore the social distancing requirements. Children, elderly and high-risk individuals should continue to avoid going out at all times. Masks remain mandatory in public areas.
The number of coronavirus recoveries has been steadily rising in the country, with yesterday's figure of 509 recoveries being the highest ever recoveries recorded in a single day until yesterday.
Meanwhile, in an effort to further reduce the risk of infections, the Abu Dhabi Police on late Sunday evening announced a movement permit system for residents wanting to leave their homes for essential purposes during the National Sterilisation Programme, which runs daily from 10pm to 6am.
A new 80-bed hospital has also been opened up in the Abu Dhabi, in a short span of 15 days, to take care of Covid-19 patients with mild symptoms. Reem Hospital, a portfolio company of Investcorp, in collaboration with the Department of Health and SEHA, on Sunday commissioned Dar Al Shifaa Hospital in Khalifa City A.
Leading from the front, the UAE government has been holding virtual meetings to chart a new course for the country post-Covid-19.
Upon the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the UAE government began a remote meeting on Sunday, entitled, "Preparations for the post-coronavirus, Covid-19, period". The meeting, which will continue until Tuesday, May 12, is being attended by ministers, secretaries-general of executive councils, officials from over 100 federal government and local authorities, and international experts.
