Coronavirus: UAE reports 2,404 Covid-19 cases, 2,252 recoveries, 3 deaths

The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday reported 2,404 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 2,252 recoveries.

Three deaths were also reported.

The new cases were detected through 133,458 additional tests.

More than 22.5 million Covid-19 tests have been carried out in the UAE so far.

The total number of cases as on January 11 is 232,982 while total recoveries are 208,366. Death toll rises to 711.

Total active cases stand at 23,905.

On Sunday, the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) announced that all frontliners have been successfully vaccinated, with the UAE crossing the one-million-mark in administering vaccine doses across the country.

Over 250,000 people have also received the second dose.

In the past few days, the health authorities have pushed the pedal on the National Vaccination Programme. From 8.98 doses per 100 people on Thursday, the coverage jumped to 10.99 on Sunday.

On Sunday, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, became the second UAE Ruler to take the jab.

Meanwhile, churches have joined the UAE's National Vaccination Programme. Over the weekend, St Joseph’s Cathedral in Abu Dhabi facilitated the vaccination of 7,000 people. More churches will be offering the jabs to members of the community in the coming weeks.
