The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday reported 3,249 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 3,904 recoveries.

Ten deaths were also reported.

The new cases were detected through additional 156,472 tests.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 3 stand at 316,875 while total recoveries are 293,180. The death toll rises to 888.

Early Thursday, Saudi Arabia announced it was enforcing further measures to stem the spread of the coronavirus, with the closure of cinemas, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, gyms and sports centres for 10 days, subject to extension.

The news is part of a spate of fresh restrictions being introduced across the GCC, as Kuwait too said on Wednesday that it would suspend entry for non-citizens for two weeks as of February 7, following a rise in coronavirus cases in the Gulf state.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Global Village has announced the suspension of shows and street entertainment effective February 3 “until further notice”. Fireworks are also cancelled for the next two weekends.
