The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Thursday reported 3,525 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 3,734 recoveries and 18 deaths.

The new cases were detected through 180,340 additional tests.

Over 27.5 million tests have been conducted across the country to date.

The total number of cases in UAE as on February 11 are 339,667 while total recoveries stand at 319,787. Death toll rises to 974.

Britain on Wednesday announced tough new measures to curb the spread of coronavirus variants from abroad, including steep fines and even jail time for those who break the rules.

Anyone refusing to take tests risks a fine of between £1,000 and £2,000, while those who do not self-isolate could have to pay between £5,000 and £10,000.

Travellers found to have given false information about being in a “red list” country 10 days before travel could receive up to 10 years in prison.

Oman too has extended the closure of its land border among other strict precautionary measures announced on Wednesday to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.
