The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Monday reported 915 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 1,295 recoveries. Three deaths were also reported.

More than 77,000 new Covid-19 tests were carried out, taking the total number of tests to 11.77 million so far.

Continuing its crackdown no erring establishments, the Dubai Municipality closed two shisha cafes in Al Quoz, it announced yesterday. Municipality teams have conducted thorough safety inspections and visited 10,141 food establishments during September until the mid of October to ensure Covid-19 guidelines were followed. Within the span of 45 days, inspection teams penalized and shut down 25 food establishments for non-compliance of precautionary measures, and issued warnings to 1,579 others, while 8,404 were found complying with the procedures set by the health authorities.

Meanwhile, in a significant step, hotels and other venues in Dubai will be allowed to host wedding receptions and other social events starting October 22, it was announced yesterday. A maximum of 200 people will be allowed in each hall, and 30 people at tents and homes, provided a safe social distance of one person per four square metres can be maintained. Events should not run longer than four hours, and elderly people and those with chronic conditions are advised not to attend functions, said guidelines issued by the Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management.
