Dubai Economy on Saturday announced the closure of three businesses for failure to adhere to mandatory precautionary measures.

In its daily inspection report, the authority noted that it had shut down two gyms and a department store for violating the precautionary guidelines against Covid-19.

The inspections also resulted in 28 fines being issued for violations related to face masks and physical distancing detected in Barsha, Souq Al Kabeer, Al Murar, Al Baraha, Oud Metha, Al Nahda, Burj Khalifa, Al Quoz, Al Badaa and various shopping malls.

The emirate has been cracking down on violators of Covid-19 protocols, after a recent surge in the number of new daily infections across the country.

Overall, the inspections found that 480 commercial establishments fully complied with the guidelines. The violating establishments included those dealing in general trading, mobile phones and accessories, document processing, textiles, travel, inbound tours, money exchange, photo studio, therapeutic massage, print and copy services, and physiotherapy in addition to gyms.

Dubai Economy said it will continue its inspections along with its various partners, reminding that any violation or malpractice that may be found by the inspectors or reported by the public will not be tolerated.

Dubai Economy also directed traders to strictly adhere to the precautionary measures and called on the public to report any violation or harmful practices they come across through the Dubai Consumer App available on Apple, Google and Huawei stores, by calling 600545555, or via the Consumerrights.ae website.
