Residents in Abu Dhabi region suffering from chronic illnesses can avail of free medication, diagnostic tests and consultancy sessions for three months.
The initiative comes as part of the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an’s ‘Together We Are Good’ programme - in cooperation with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and in partnership with VPS Healthcare to assist residents affected by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It supports even those who are not covered by medical insurance of National Health Insurance Company – Daman. Earlier, a programme by Ma’an offered support to only those holding Daman basic policies. But now, residents with other valid health insurances, who have reached their existing medical coverage limits, will also be benefited.
Residents suffering from heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma orother lung diseases can receive this medical support. VPS Healthcare will provide free consultations, special helpline at its call centres to fix appointments and pharmacy orders, a dedicated route to process and track patients and a follow-up procedure as well. Transportation service for patients will be provided whenever needed.
‘Example of social cohesion’
Salama Al Ameemi, director-general of Ma’an, said vulnerable residents can take advantage of this programme.
“We are delighted to be building on our previous health support initiative, and this additional medical assistance will provide comfort to even more affected residents in Abu Dhabi. This example of social cohesion and support will make a real difference to many people and I offer my sincere thanks to VPS Healthcare.”
Dr Shamsheer Vayalil, chairman and managing director, VPS Healthcare, said access to necessary medications was one of the challenges faced by many people amid the pandemic.
“This initiative will help ensure that all patients can get essential medications to help safeguard good health and wellbeing. We commend Ma’an for their care and compassion for residents of Abu Dhabi.”
Omran Al Khoori, president - business development, VPS Healthcare, pointed out: “The ‘Together We Are Good’ programme is a great example of how the public and private sectors are working together during this unprecedented global public health emergency.”
Residents can book appointments through a helpline number 8003088 to visit one of the eight VPS Healthcare facilities in Abu Dhabi region – Burjeel Hospital, Medeor 24X7 Abu Dhabi, LLH Hospital Abu Dhabi, LLH Hospital Al Ain, Medeor 24x7 Al Ain, Lifecare Hospital in Musaffah, Lifecare Hospital Baniyas and Burjeel Oasis Medical Centre Madinat Zayed
