Sharjah - Registration is open until March 20.
Do you have an idea or a project that can help Sharjah beat Covid-19 challenges? Send them to the Sharjah Police and stand a chance to win the new Open Innovation Award.
Announced on the sidelines of the launch of the police’s Innovation Lab, the award is open to people of all ages and from all walks of life. It is divided into two categories: ideas and projects, said Colonel Tariq Al Midfa, director of Strategy and Performance Development Department. Registration is open until March 20 and a link is provided on the Sharjah Police’s social media pages.
Participants may join individually or as part of a team of no more than four members. They must not have won any other competitions or prizes. Submissions can either be creative ideas about Covid prevention, recovery, vaccination, and other virus-related topics or an innovative model that can support the government’s efforts to fight the pandemic. Winners can get cash prizes of up to Dh20,000.
The Sharjah Police have also launched an innovation lab where bright ideas on how to tackle Covid-19 challenges are expected to emerge.
Major-General Saif Al Zeri Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, said forming the brainstorming lab was part of efforts to rein in the spread of the Covid virus and keep a strict vigil on repeat offenders.
During the meet that coincided with the UAE Innovates week, the authorities have discussed various aspects of the Covid-19 pandemic, such as compliance with protocols, mass testing, and encouraging the public to get the jab.
