The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has announced that working hours in private schools during the holy month of Ramadan will be from 9am to 2pm, Khaleej Times has learnt.

The private school regulator sent a circular to schools in Dubai stating the revised school timings were decided following the completion of survey that quizzed schools about timings of distance learning during the holy month of Ramadan. A majority of the schools preferred 9 am to 2pm as their preferred timings. A copy of this circular has been seen by Khaleej Times.

The circular said, "If these timings are not suitable, please feel free to amend them in consultation with your parent community. If you do change these timings, please let us know as soon as you can by writing to rpc@khda.gov.ae "

KHDA has also asked schools to be mindful while assigning pupils homework and assignments during this time. "During Ramadan, the whole school community - including students, teachers and parents will be spending extra time in prayer with their families. We ask you to be mindful of this with regards to the amount of homework and assignments set for students," it said.

"Every Ramadan, we practice the virtues of patience, togetherness, compassion and inner strength. This Ramadan, we will need to draw on these virtues more than ever," the circular concluded.
