All employees of the UAE's ministries and federal government departments must undergo a PCR test for Covid-19 every seven days.
The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources announced the new requirement on Monday in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Employees who have received both doses of their Covid vaccines are exempted from the requirement, the authority added.

Additionally, consultants and experts who are required to attend meetings or be present at government office premises are required to have a negative PCR test result taken no more than three days prior. Fully vaccinated consultants are exempted from this requirement.
Previously, all federal government employees were required to take a PCR test every 14 days at their own expense.
Employees with health conditions that prevent them from taking the Covid vaccine will need to undergo a PCR test. However, the expense will be borne by the entity they work for.
The new measures are part of the UAE government’s efforts in addressing the pandemic, limiting its spread and repercussions, and protecting the health of employees.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) issued a circular, asking teachers and other staff at private schools to undergo a Covid-19 test every 14 days.
