UAE-India travel: State-wise Covid, quarantine rules

Dubai - Here are the travel rules to some of the states that are mostly visited from the UAE.

Amid the new travel regulations for international passengers, Indian expatriates travelling home from the UAE are feeling overwhelmed with the list of protocols to follow upon arriving in India.

TP Sudheesh, the general manager of Deira Travel and Tourist Agency, said: “The regulations are different for different states. It is highly recommended that travellers confirm the rules and regulations to follow with their airline or travel agents before making the trip home.” Furthermore, the travel situation is highly volatile; regulations may change any time.

Return passengers need to take at least five tests RT-PCR tests during the course of their journey to and from India.

Khaleej Times has created this detailed breakdown of state-wise quarantine and testing regulations for passengers to India. Based on data collected from agencies and travellers, following are the travel rules to some of the states that are mostly visited from the UAE.

Delhi

Pre-arrival: All travellers must submit self-declaration form (SDF) online at www.newdelhiairport.in before the scheduled travel and will be required to declare their travel history (of past 14 days).

On arrival: Thermal screening would be done for all passengers. All travellers will be subject to self-paid confirmatory molecular tests after they land.

Quarantine: Passengers would be required to stay for seven days under home quarantine. Passengers to be tested again after seven days and if found negative will be released from quarantine. Passengers tested positive to be isolated in an institutional facility.

Maharashtra

Pre-arrival: All international passengers to Mumbai must upload a negative Covid-19 RT-PCR test report issued within 72 hours of departure on the Air Suvidha portal. Carry copies of the test result with you as well. There is no need for testing at the airport if their final destination is Maharashtra.

On arrival: All passengers must submit an undertaking form on the Air Suvidha portal, agreeing to undergo mandatory seven days of institutional quarantine at their own cost, followed by seven days of home quarantine with self-monitoring of health.

Quarantine: It is mandatory for passengers arriving in Mumbai from UAE with a destination within Maharashtra to undergo seven days’ institutional quarantine in a hotel or at a state-mandated quarantine centre.

They will have to undergo a self-paid test on the seventh day of quarantine. If the result is negative, they can proceed for seven days of home quarantine. There is no need for a repeat test after the home quarantine period unless the passenger develops symptoms.

Kerala

Pre-travel: All passengers are advised to register on the https://covid19jagratha.kerala.nic./ portal. Apart from this, passengers should register on Air Suvidha at least 72 hours before the commencement of journey.

Testing at Kerala’s airports is free of cost.

Quarantine: All passengers coming from the UAE have to undergo 14 days' quarantine. Home quarantine is permitted for asymptomatic passengers. They can be tested on the seventh day after arrival and if tested negative, further quarantine of seven days is optional and not mandatory.

Those who don’t get tested would be advised to continue on quarantine for the remaining seven days and complete a total of 14 days in quarantine.

Karnataka

Arrival: All passengers arriving at the airport will be compulsorily screened for symptoms of Covid-19. For symptomatic passengers, you will be segregated from other passengers and will be sent to dedicated Covid Health Centre for testing.

Quarantine: If tested negative, you will be advised to complete home/ institutional quarantine for 14 days. If tested positive, based on the severity of your symptoms, you will either be asked to undergo home/ institutional quarantine or shifted to the government or private Covid hospital. Asymptomatic passengers will be advised to complete home/institutional quarantine for 14 days.

Tamil Nadu

Arrival: All passengers arriving at the airport will be compulsorily screened for symptoms of Covid-19. Symptomatic passengers will be segregated from other passengers and will be sent to dedicated health centre for testing. If tested negative, you will be advised to complete home and institutional quarantine for 14 days.

Quarantine: If tested positive, based on the severity of your symptoms, you will either be asked to undergo home and institutional quarantine or shifted to the government or private hospital. Asymptomatic passengers will be advised to complete home/institutional quarantine for 14 days.
