Abu Dhabi has announced the launch of the first Virtual Charter School to assist students in the Capital who have been impacted by Covid-19.
An initiative of Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek), in partnership with Horizon Private School, its goal is to ensure uninterrupted access to education for pupils in the emirate whose families have been hit by the ongoing pandemic.
The virtual platform will initially offer the Ministry of Education curriculum.
As many as 579 students of 15 nationalities have already enrolled for the course, according to a notice by Abu Dhabi Media Office.
The online school has been billed as a "pioneering extension" of the Charter Schools initiative, which offers a third education model based on public-private partnership.
