The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has reported a marked increase in the use of OTT apps and social media platforms since March due to Covid-19 measures.
Subscription services such as Amazon Prime and Netflix recorded the most significant upswings, with 44 per cent and 26 per cent increments respectively.
Social media apps followed, with Twitter usage up by 22 per cent, Facebook by 17 per cent, YouTube by 16 per cent, and Instagram 12 per cent.

The TRA noted that the e-commerce sector has also witnessed a spike in popularity over the past few months as a result of government decisions to reduce unnecessary social gatherings.
The number of Amazon website visitors was noted to have increased by 44 per cent during this period.
