In a bid to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), Dubai Municipality has intensely boosted cleaning and disinfection process in various locations across the Emirate.
 
For those worried if public spaces are safe, DM has also closed its leisure destinations and public parks to launch an intensive periodic sterilization drive to protect public health and safety. Facilities that are undergoing cleaning include - salons, labour accommodations, educational institutions, hotels and hotel apartments, food establishments, cinemas, shopping malls, fitness centres, events/play areas, veterinary clinics, animal production establishments, animal and veterinary supplies establishments, laundries, consumer trading establishments, gens and ladies salons, and construction contracting companies among others.
Furthermore, DM has also implemented a remote working system through its smart services and website. It carries out regular inspection campaigns to ensure compliance with cleaning and disinfecting processes in all public spaces across Dubai.
Here are ways DM is keeping the city clean:
Roads and streets
 
Dubai plans on running a campaign to sterilize all streets across Dubai, which will start from March 20 and will continue until March 30. Thorough cleaning will be conducted in a phase by phase manner starting with Dubai's Deira neighbourhood which includes Naif, Al Rigga, Muraqqabat, Baniyas, Abu Hail, Al Nahda, and all nearby localities.
 
On March 21, areas including Hor Al Anz, Abu Baqer Al Siddiqui street, and Beirut street to name a few. On March 23, DM will launch cleaning in Al Seef Street, Jumeirah, Al Manara, Al Wasl, and Financial Centre Street and neighbouring areas. By March 30, every street in the Emirate will undergo an official

Labour accommodations
Bathrooms, showers, wash basins, and dining rooms and chairs have to be constantly cleaned. Furthermore, workers have to be provided with hand sanitizers and hand washing liquid.
 
All cleaning and disinfection operations, including the list of used disinfectants, need to be documented as well.
 
A circular issued by DM said labour accommodation operators must clean - Workers kitchen and accessories, labour rooms, furniture and all door handles, control devices for electronic equipment, ladder handles, gym equipment, seats and tables in the training, meeting and entertainment rooms, and seats and handles of workers buses.
Salons, personal care centres
DM has asked personal care centres and salons in the Emirate to frequently clean entrance door handles, waiting chairs, benches and sofa tables, hair cutting chairs, washrooms, cabinets, and keep all reading materials clean. Hand sanitizers and hand washing liquids must be made available in all facilities.
 
Residential buildings, public buildings
DM has ordered increase in frequency in cleaning and disinfection of water taps, reception and waiting areas, wheelchairs, elevators and their buttons, door windows handles and staircases, swimming pool and facilities, kids' play areas, and public washrooms in the buildings. Doors and handles of garbage rooms must also be cleaned. Sanitizers must be available near public washrooms and elevators.
