The Department of Transportation Security of Dubai Police has started using a new smart glass, 'Rokid T1', in its fight against coronavirus (Covid-19). They will be used to measure the temperature of commuters and passengers at public transport stops.
The first of its kind AI-powered glasses in the region were developed to be used for detecting those infected by diseases, by combining thermal cameras and infrared rays with Artificial Intelligence.

The glasses were used in China for the first time, and now Dubai Police members will use them in public areas and stops.
Brigadier General Obaid Al Hathboor, Director of Transportation Security Department, said that the glasses can be used to detect the temperature of people from a distance of 2 meters, and has a capacity of detecting 100 people per minute.
He added that the glasses sends a notification in case a person with a higher temperature was detected. Additionally the glasses can identify faces and send related information to the operation room.
