Dubai: Tecom Group has embarked on a revamp of its industry management team to ensure the company is able to continue championing industry growth and focus on Dubai's innovation-related initiatives.
These changes reflect Tecom Group's ongoing efforts towards providing an attractive and smart work environment for its 5,100 business partners and 80,000 creative workforce, and fostering entrepreneurship, as well as contributing to the realisation of Dubai's economic aspirations through the creation of sector-focused business communities.
Tecom Group also plays a key role in the implementation of the national agenda, aiming to achieve Dubai's vision for 2021, launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with a focus on economic diversification, promoting entrepreneurship and fostering the contribution of small and medium-sized companies to the UAE's GDP, across its six sectors.
The reorganisation of the management team will play a key role in speeding up the implementation of Tecom Group's innovation strategy, which aims to transform Dubai into an innovation-led economy, and promote Emiratization.
Malek Al Malek, CEO of Tecom Business Parks, said: "Over the past 16 years, Tecom Group has played an instrumental role in Dubai's diversification and development into a knowledge-economy. All of our communities now play a central role in supporting the government's efforts to transform the emirate into an innovation-led economy and a smart city."
The changes include the appointment of Dr Ayoub Kazim as managing director of axs, Tecom Group's service vertical. Dr Kazim has served as the managing director of Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) and Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) since 2006. Under Dr Kazim's leadership, DKV and DIAC have grown to become the region's leading centres of learning excellence and have attracted international universities, in addition to 24,000 students from 145 countries.
Mohammad Abdullah, who served as the managing director of Dubai Media City (DMC), Dubai Studio City (DSC) and International Media Production Zone (IMPZ), has been appointed managing director of DKV and DIAC. He has played an instrumental role in the growth of Dubai's media industry. Under Abdullah's leadership, Tecom Group's media communities grew to become home to over 2,000 companies and 20,000 skilled media professionals.
Majed Al Suwaidi, who was previously managing director of Dubai Internet City (DIC) and Dubai Outsource City (DOC), has been appointed as the managing director of DMC, DSC and IMPZ. Al Suwaidi has played a leading role in driving the growth of Dubai's tech start-up landscape and also championed smart initiatives, with DIC being named a strategic partner of Smart Dubai last year. With the increasing convergence of ICT and media, and more content moving online, Al Suwaidi brings an in-depth understanding of the region's ICT landscape to his new role.
Ammar Malik, director of business development, DIC and DOC, who has been with the Group for 11 years, will be the executive director of these communities going forward. Abdullah Mohaisin, who has been with the Group for 12 years, was appointed as the executive director of the corporate vertical of axs.
