Abu Dhabi Indian School Enter Semifinals

Abu Dhabi Indian School and Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School raced to the semifinals of the Lifebuoy inaugural Abu Dhabi inter-school cricket tournament following their victories over Al Taawan Private School and the British School Al Khubairat on Saturday.

ADIS remained unbeaten in Group A. Pankaj Samant (84) and Zakir Hussain (65) set the platform for their third win with a partnership of 168 for the third wicket to post 210 for seven. And Al Taawan in reply were bowled out for 47.

It was Samant’s second half century. He hit half-a-dozen fours and claimed two wickets for four runs to take the man-of-the-match for the second time in the tournament.

Hussain’s knock contained a couple of boundaries and a six.

Dan D’Souza led from the front for the International School of Choueifat by hitting a match winning 79 not out against Indian Islahi Islamic School.

The captain hit eight fours and shared an unbroken 89-run stand for the third wicket with Sriram Balaguru (14 not out) as they got the required runs in 19.5 overs after restricting Indian Islahi to 145 for six.

The Pakistan school captain Tauqeer Saeed produced a fine all-round performance to make it two-out-of-two for them in the U-14 group B.

Saeed made 56 and took three wickets to lead his team to a 116-run victory over Al Khubairat, who were restricted to 128 for nine in reply to Pakistan School’s 254 for seven.

Group B Under 16: International School of Choueifat bt Indian Islahi Islamic School by 7 wickets. Indian Islahi 145 for 6 in 25 overs (Hariram Subramaniam 31, Jubair Ahmed 34, Fazal Abdul Majeed 21, Aman Jethmalani 2-20). Choueifat 146 for 3 in 19.5 overs (Dan D’Souza 79 not out). Group B Under 14: Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Pakistan School bt British School-Al Khubairat by 116 runs. Pakistan School 254 for 7 in 25 overs (Farukh Tanveer 45, Touqeer Saeed 56, Yasir Mohammad 4-40). Al Khubairat 128 for 9 in 25 overs (Touqir Saeed 3-39, Ali Shah 3-9).
