Batting first on winning the toss, AEN CC struggled to score against a tight and accurate bowling by AGE Group and mustered to put on a 92-run victory target for their rivals. Irfan was the most successful bowler for AGE Group claiming three wickets for nine runs in his four-over spell. Tariq bagged two for 19 as AEN lost eight wickets to reach 91 which included nine extras.
Murtaza made 23, Ali Borya 18, Ali R 13 and Murtaza T 11 not out after the openers had given then a sound start putting on 30 runs for the first wicket.
Although AGE Group lost their opener Manal S on four, A Sajad and Ibrahim brought their team closer to victory with a 65-run stand for the second wicket.
Sajad scored 31 runs hitting two sixes and three fours after he faced 19 balls. Ibrahim was unbeaten on 41 made from 23 deliveries. Haseeb contributed 11 as AGE Group reached the target in 9.2 overs. Mustafa bagged two wickets for the losers.
Irfan Haider of AGE Group, who was instrumental in getting the main AEN players out, was adjudged the man of the match.
Although AEN won two earlier matches in the group, AGE Group qualified for the knock-out round with better average by topping the pool. They now join United Arab Bank in the pre-quarterfinals. The pre-quarter matches have now been finalized.
Yogi Group, who topped Group A, will take on Jashanmal National Co, while runners-up of Group A, Brookefield Multiplex will clash with Group B winners, Afridi CC.
