Ali, Niazi Shine as Eurocon Alubond Beat Al Manal Development
SHARJAH - Manzoor Ali returned with a four-wicket haul and Safdar Niazi slammed a fluent half-century as Eurocon Alubond defeated Al Manal Development by seven wickets in the 19th Bukhatir League tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Al Dhaid Cricket Village.
Manzoor conceded just 19 runs for his four wickets to help his side bowl out Al Manal Development for 148 in the 20th over. Azam (three for 23) and Amin (two for 39) were the other main wicket-takers.
Al Manal Development needed to thank Rashid Sajjad (39) and Nasim Khan (26) for offering some resistance to the charged-up Eurocon attack. Eurocon, in reply, raced to the victory target in just 17.5 overs with Safdar smashing a blistering 74. He was well assisted by Nasir Aziz who contributed a solid 37 to the total.
Elsewhere in the Sharjah Invitation Tournament, also organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, Mahek CC comfortable kept up their dominance over United Arab Bank, winning the match by nine wickets.
With Vinay and Sujit sharing seven wickets, Mahek did well to restricted United Arab Bank to 162 for nine and then achieved the challenging victory target in 17.5 overs. Sujit rounded off a fine all-round performance by smashing a solid 55. Arun (54) and Rajesh (49) further made things easier for Mahek CC.
