The tournament, organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council, is supported by 106.2
HUM FM and CBFS as associate sponsors. Fly Emirates dominated the proceedings right from the word go. Electing to bat after winning the toss, they piled up a huge 219 for eight in the allotted 25 overs and then shot out their opponents for 134 to seal their first win in the tournament.
Experienced Amjad Javed led the batting charge for Fly Emirates, hammering a fluent 86 off 51 balls which included 11 fours and two sixes. Khurram Khan (39 off 35 balls) and Arshad Ali (31 off 30 balls) further consolidated the gains, Noman, Sohail and Mohammed Afzal picked up two wickets each for UAB. UAB, in reply, needed to produce something out of the ordinary to match pace with Fly Emirates’ big score. That failed to materialize and they folded up well short of their intended target in the 23rd over.
Faizan (44 off 35 balls with four fours and two sixes) Noman (29 off 26 balls) and Tariq (25 off 19 balls) were among the runs.
Arshad Ali bowled well for Fly Emirates, taking three wickets for 21 runs while
Nigel Fernando and Abdul Rehman took two wickets to complete a resounding victory.
Fly Emirates beat United Arab Bank by 85 runs: Fly Emirates 219 for eight in 25 overs (Amjad Javed 86, Khurram Khan 39, Arshad Ali 31; Noman 2-8, Sohail 2-32, Afzal 2-32) United Arab Bank 134 all out in 22.1 overs (Faizan 44, Noman 29, Tariq 25; Arshad Ali 3-31, Nigel Fernando 2-30, Abdul Rehman 2-32).
