Arshad stars for Abu Dhabi Cargo

DUBAI — Arshad Khan’s all-round performance helped Abu Dhabi Cargo Company (ADCC) defeat Dry Docks World Dubai in a Group D match by five wickets in the 9th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket Tournament being played at Zabeel Park Cricket Grounds, a press release said.

Arshad took two wickets as Dry Docks struggled to put on 132 runs after electing to bat first. He then scored a 20-ball 24 runs to help ADCC reach the target in the 17th over.

The 20-over tournament, organised by Dulsco SC, in association with Dubai Municipality, is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.

Aslam remained not out on 28 for the winners as ADCC made the chase look easy. He hit two fours and one six and faced 15 balls for his well made 28. Omer made 19; opener Sohail 17 and Zulfikar 14 not out, were the other contributors for the Cargo Company.

Earlier Dry Docks World Dubai put on 132 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the allotted overs. Brar T was the top scorer for Dry Docks with a well made half century (55). He hit three sixes and as many fours whilst facing 40 balls.

Thaimoor scored 22 from 14 deliveries and reached the ropes once and over them twice. Opener Amir made 18 and along with Shazad (9) put on 27 runs for the first wicket.

Farhat 11 was the other batsman who reached double figures.

Hiran was the most successful bowler for ADCC claiming two wickets for 14 runs. Arshad bagged two for 21 and was later named the man of the match. Ahmed picked up two for 31 runs and ADCC conceded 15 extras.
