Aslam and Aziz power Eurocon to big victory

SHARJAH — Naemuddin Aslam hammered a brilliant unbeaten century while Nasir Aziz turned in fine all-round performance as Eurocon Alubdond defeated Yogi Group by seven wickets in the 36th Bukhatir League ‘A’’ Division Tournament, organized by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah stadium.

Aslam , batting with conviction, blazed an entertaining 110 not out off 86 balls with 10 fours and one six in the company of Nasir Aziz, who also remained not out on 64, to help Eurocon overhaul Yogi Group’s 280 in the 44^th over.

Yogi Group, electing to bat after winning the toss, posted a challenging score with Bilal Murtaza leading the batting charge, scoring 55 off 66 balls with three fours and two sixes.

Avadoot (43 off 27 balls with three fours and three sixes), Shaimon Anwar (33 off 26 balls) and Swapnil Patil (32 off 40 balls) also made useful contributions to the total, but failed to convert their confident starts into big innings.

Nasir Aziz bowled well for Eurocon, taking four wickets for 50 runs while Khurram and Asif returned with a two-wicket haul each to prevent Yogi Group batsmen from running way with a huge total.

Eurocon Alubond, in reply, planned their innings well and negotiated the Yogi Group attack with a matured head. Aslam, in particular, added to the woes of Yogi Group bowlers with a solid display of strokes all round the wicket. Nasir Aziz rounded off a brilliant all-round performance, slamming a crisp 64 off as many balls with four fours to guide Eurocon to a comfortable win.

Eurocon also needed to thank Asif who made 64 off 64 balls with 10 fours and Hareesh (28) for providing a good platform for Aslam and Aziz to wrap up a well-deserved win.
