Atharva’s Unbeaten 89 Helps DPS, Sharjah Win

DPS, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, got off to a flying start as openers Atharva and Devnath Menon put on a 95 runs partnership. Rishab got Al Sadiq the breakthrough when he had Devnath caught by Menon. Devnath, who played a more sedate innings, scored 23 off 50 balls.

DPS lost the wickets of Abhinav Shankar (0), Nehul Dhakan (1) in quick succession before Atharva, who remained unbeaten on 89 off 79 balls and Zohaib Zafar (14 off 17) guided DPS to 163 runs in the allotted 25 overs.

Atharva, who stood like a defiant wall hit 11 boundaries and a huge sixer in his breezy knock.

Rishab was the lone successful Al Sadiq YTCA bowler with figures of wickets for 17 runs while Sreenivasa claimed the only other DPS wicket to fall.

In reply, Al Sadiq YTCA fell short of the required total by just 18 runs despite middle-order batsman Sanjosh’s excellent unbeaten 63.

Sanjosh, who hit three sixers and eight boundaries, kept Al Sadiq YTCA in the running. But with not much support from his team-mates Sanjosh’s fine efforts went in vain as Al Sadiq YTCA put up a fighting total of 145 for the loss of eight wickets.

DPS bowlers, Akash and Atharva worked in tandem to keep the Al Sadiq YTCA batsmen under check. Akash contributed with three top-order wickets fro 13 runs in the five overs he bowled while Atharva claimed two wickets for 22 runs in three overs. Atharva was declared the man of the match for his all round performance.
