In a Group F match played on Tuesday night, Boriwala scored 47 runs as AEN CC scored a one-run thrilling win over United Arab Bank (UAB) in the 20-over tournament organised by Dulsco SC, in association with Dubai Municipality.

Put in to bat, AEN made a sedate start putting on 26 runs for the opening wicket. Murtuza Mugul was the first man out caught by Sohail off Tauqeer’s bowling for 14 runs. Boriwala, then found an able partner in Abbas B and both added 57 runs for the second wicket. Sohail, however, broke the partnership when he had bowled Boriwala who was three runs away from completing his half-century. Boriwala faced 23 balls and hit four fours and an equal number of sixes. Then Abbas did not find any support from Moiz who walked in at Boriwala’s departure and was out three runs later. Abbas and Taha then steadied the AEN boat before the former was caught by Janshed off Afzal for 23 runs. Taha scored 17 runs from 23 balls. Tail enders Yousuf Humaid and Ozefa boosted AEN’s total with some unorthodox hitting to put up a 152 victory target for the rivals. Yousuf hit a 10-ball 16 while Ozefa scored a dozen as AEN lost seven wickets. UNB bowlers conceded 10 runs in the form of extras.

UAB began their chase badly losing their opener Tariq Imtiaz for one run on two. But Nouman and one-down Mohammed Afzal put on 83 runs for the second wicket keeping UAB in line for a win. Nouman fell two runs short of his half-century when he was stumped by Mustafa and Afzal was bowled by Abbas for 32 runs. Needing to score seven runs in the last over, UAB scored added four runs in the first two balls. On the third ball, a well-settled Jamshed was out for 46, leaving them to get three runs in three balls. Pressing the panic button, Tauqeer and Nadeem lost their wickets to the next two balls with a task of making three runs in the last ball. Baig took a run but could not get home for the second conceding a one-run victoryto AEN.
