Brilliant Ashraf bowls 
SKMC to victory

ABU DHABI — Mohammed Ashraf ripped through the ESI Dare Devils batting line-up to help SKMC score a comprehensive 165-run win in the Carpetland Ramadan Cup Twenty20 tournament at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium on Saturday night.

Earlier, Balamurugan scored the first century of the tournament to guide ADFC to a 178-run victory against ESI Knight Riders.

Twenty teams from all over the UAE are participating in the tournament. They have been divided into four groups with five teams in each group.

Batting first, SKMC piled on 237 for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Rehman Gul scored an unbeaten 103 from 48 balls in which he clubbed eight boundaries and seven sixes.

Opener Umar Shahab made 46 from 16 balls with seven boundaries and two sixes. Lower down the order, Kaman Afser made an unbeaten 45 from 25 balls with four boundaries and two sixes.

Prakash Patel and Prakash Prajapati took two wickets each.

In reply, ESI Dare Devils were never in the hunt despite a fighting 27 by opener Prakash Prajapati.

Mohd. Ashraf scythed through the batting order to finish with impressive figures 4-0-16-7.

Rehman Gul took two wickets. ESI Dare Devils folded up for 72 in 13.1 overs.

In the other game, ADFC scored a mammoth 258 for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.

Balamurugan scored the first century of the tournament, his unbeaten 100 coming in 46 balls with eight boundaries and six sixes.

One-down batsman Veera Raghu made 59 from 36 balls with the help of eight boundaries and two sixes. Mohammed Jahangeer made 56 from 30 balls with six boundaries and three sixes before retiring hurt.

ESI Knight Riders were shot out for 80 in 13.3 overs. Kasimurugan took four wickets for 13, while Vimal Nath took two wickets.
