The former Mumbai Ranji Trophy player cracked 70 off just 45 balls with six fours and three sixes as Yogi Group, batting first, piled up a massive 198 for five in the allotted 20 overs. Shaiman Butt (38 off 24 balls) and Avdoot (38 off 14 balls with three fours and three sixes) and Prabodhan Kanse (27 off 16 balls) also joined the party with some fluent innings.
Rufi Real Estate, in reply, were bowled out for 128 in the 20th over with Salman Faris taking three wickets or just 14 runs. Ambey and Kamran Shezad added to the woes of Rufi Real Estate batsmen, picking up two wickets each. In the opening match of the tournament, Fayyaz Ahmed and Kashif combined effectively to steer Ibsons Group to a comfortable seven-wicket victory over Al Futtain Panatech.
Fayyaz produced a tidy all-round performance while Kashif struck an entertaining half-century as Ibsons CC overhauled Al Futtaim Panatech’s score of 137 for seven in just 14.4 overs.
Fayyaz played a key role in restricting Al Futtaim Panatech to a modest score by picking up three wickets for 23 runs and then chipped in with a fine 29 runs off 20 balls with one four fours and one six to earn the man of the match award. Kashif, on the other hand, elegantly led the Ibsons Group’s run chase, scoring a blazing 50 off 31 balls which included six fours and two sixes.
Earlier, Al Futtaim Panatech, electing to first after winning the toss, built their innings around Harhirt Panwar who made 55 off 40 balls with eight fours and one six. Abbas (29 off 19 balls) was the other major scorers, but all other batsmen struggled to string together innings in the face of a nagging Ibsons attack.
