Carefare XI beat Abu Dhabi Cargo Company (ADCC), by 18 runs to assure themselves of advancing in the 20-over tournament organised by Dulsco SC, in association with the Dubai Municipality.
It was Sharif’s second solid performance with the bat which earned him his second man of the match award in as many matches.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, Carefare lost both their openers on 37. Harkirat scored a 16-ball 20 while Ashish was out bowled by Suhail for two runs.
Pramod, who came in at the fall of Ashish, contributed 18, which included one six and one four. Sharif and Pramod took the responsibility of rebuilding the Carefare innings and put on 93 runs for the fourth wicket. Sharif hit a hurricane 91 from 46 deliveries and belted nine sixes and two boundaries. Abhinav made 27 runs before he was run out.
Sanjay picked up two wickets for 12 runs while Suhail bagged one for 20. The remaining bowlers were expensive and conceded 32 runs in the form of extras.
With an asking rate of 9.6 runs per over, ADCC began well putting on 71 runs for the opening wicket. Hiran hit a 35-ball 56 and Sohail made 29 from 23 balls. Both hit three sixes but found no support from their team-mates as ADCC lost wickets at regular intervals.
Dhanuskar (25) and Aslam (15) raised some hopes with their contributions but their efforts went in vain as the Cargo men fell short by 18 runs.
Pramod was the most successful bowler for the winners claiming three wickets whilst conceding 23 runs. Abhinav bagged two for 35 while Harkirat, Rohit and Sharif picked up one apiece.
Sharif earned his second man of match award for his solid batting performance and the one wicket he picked up.
Hosts Dulsco SC and Drydocks World Dubai are the other teams in Group D.
