Comprehensive win for champions Durham

ABU DHABI – County champions Durham ended Marylebone Cricket Club’s (MCC) misery with a comprehensive 311- run win in the traditional County season-opener at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Requiring a mammoth 526, Marylebone Cricket Club, who resumed the final day of the four-day fixture on 156 for the loss of seven wickets, lost the remaining three wickets in 45 minutes to fold up for 214 in their second dig.

Durham, who were seven for the loss of two wickets on Day Three, declared on 228 for the loss of six wickets.

Ian Blackwell and Scott Borthwick took four wickets, while Steve Harmison took two wickets.
