The tournament is organised by Young Talents Cricket Academy under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Cricket Council.

In the Under 16 final, G Force helped by Zameen Jaleel’s century, defeated Al Sadiq YTCA by 20 runs in a high-scoring match. G Force, batting first put up 226 for eight wickets in 25 overs and later managed to restrict a defiant Al Sadiq YTCA to 206 for seven wickets.

G Force opening batsman, Zameen Jaleel registered his second straight century as he scored 105 runs off just 48 balls. Jaleel, who had scored 122 against Desert Cubs in the league match, was once again among the runs as he plundered six towering hits over the ropes aided with 13 boundaries.

Al Sadiq YTCA’s Marlon D’Souza who ultimately dismissed Jaleel leg before was the most successful bowler with three wickets for 54 runs.

In reply, Al Sadiq gave G Force a runs for their money as the top three batsmen, Reuben Abraham (59), Kartik Venu (39) and Aditya Mavuru 62) came good with the bat.

But the G Force bowlers maintained the pressure, especially in the middle overs to put the issue beyond Al Sadiq’s reach.

In the Under 14 final, G Force maintained their supremacy as they beat visiting Feedem Western Cape from South Africa by a comfortable 100 runs margin.

G Force, batting first scored 206 for eight wickets while FWC managed to score 106 before being bowled out in 16.2 overs.

G Force opening batsman Shorye Chopra dealt mostly in boundaries as he top scored with 69 runs off 56 balls studded with 11 boundaries. Karthik Sekhar (37 off 34) and Arhan Anand (49 off 36) also helped in piling on the runs for G Force.

In reply, Aayush Motwani’s five wicket haul sent FWC crashing after some inspirational bowling by Varun Totadri (2 for 28) and Hamza Tariq (3 for 30). Elliot Moses was FWC’s leading scorer with 37 runs off 41 balls while Dayyan Galliem was the next highest with 18 runs.

DPS shine

DPS YTCA defeated Al Fara’a by virtue of losing fewer wickets after scores were tied in a thrilling under 18 final of the Interface Gulf Cup.

Chasing 222 for victory, the match was interestingly poised as DPS YTCA, the defending champions, needed to score 15 runs off the last over bowled by leg-spinner Salem Qadoos.

Vignesh Rajan, the hero of the semifinals, once again came to the rescue as seven were required off the last two balls. But just as fortune favours the brave, Rajan’s lofted shot was not only dropped by a Al Fara’a fielder at mid-on, the ball rolled over the ropes much to the delight of DPS YTCA.

Making best of the life, Rajan scampered for another couple after hitting towards mid-wicket off the final delivery to tie the scores.
