The tournament is organised by Young Talents Cricket Academy, under the auspices of Abu Dhabi Cricket Council.
DPS School Sharjah rallied from a bad start which saw them lose three wickets for 33 runs in five overs, to a respectable total of 101 all out in 22.5 overs.
DPS School Sharjah opening batsman Atharva Kavi emerged the leading scorer with 21 runs off 18 balls. Unfortunately for DPS and Atharva, who hit four boundaries, the opening batsman was sent back after he was run-out in his efforts to raise the scoring.
However, DPS’s middle-order duo of Abhinav Shankar and Zohaib Zafar maintained the scoring rate before Abhinav was caught by Varun Shankar off Mathew Jose, after scoring 22valubale runs. Abhinav hit four boundaries during his 29-ball knock. Varun, who had a hand in four dismissals (2 catches, 2 stumpings), stumped Zhoaib off Nabil’s bowling. Zohaib in fact hit the only six of the match in his score of 10 off 17 balls.
Nabil was ECT’s most successful bowler with three wickets for just 18 runs in his five-over spell while team-mates Akshay and Mathew claimed two wickets each.
In reply, ECT suffered early blows after losing the wickets of Nabil and Mathew, as they managed to score 77 all out in 25 overs. Vittesh top scored for ECT with an unbeaten 19 off 25 balls.
DPS’s Chirag Thakur, who claimed three wickets for 10 runs from five overs, was later declared man of the match. Chirag was well supported by Akash Sharma and Sparsh, both of who took two wickets each.
