Dulsco Ramadan floodlight cricket tourney

DUBAI — Dulsco Sports Club will conduct the 9th addition of Dulsco Ramadan Floodlight Open Cricket Tournament from August 9 at the Zabeel Cricket Ground, a press release said.

John Neale, Managing Director of Dulsco said: “The 2010 tournament commemorates 75 years of the establishment of the company in 1935. We are thankful to Dubai Municipality for providing the fine facility at the Zabeel Park for conducting the tournament.”

Johnson Alexander, Director HR and QHSE of Dulsco said: “Dulsco conducted the Ramadan Cricket Tournament at the DCC ground continuously for five years. After the area around the DCC ground has been developed for government projects, there was a dearth of cricket grounds in Dubai.

However with the association of Dubai Municipalitiy, Dulsco started conducting the tournament at the Zabeel Park for the last three years, and this will be the 4^th year of the tournament being played there. This being one of the prestigious cricket tournaments in the UAE and the flagship Ramadan cricket event in Dubai, teams confirmed their participation even before the announcement of the tournament.”

Dulsco supports Zabeel Park by providing cricket sidescreens and the maintenance of the area around the pitch so that the matches are played under ideal conditions. A total of 20 teams will be participating in the tournament.

Teams will be allowed to field two overseas players. The tournament is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council and in association with Dubai Municipality. The matches will be played under floodlights on league-cum-knock-out basis of 20 overs each at 8.30pm every night including Fridays. Coloured clothing, as well as refreshments, will be provided to all the participating teams.

Along with hosts Dulsco, Yogi Group, Jotun Paints, Rotory Humm, Enoc, Pacers Ramadi, Brook Field Multiplex, Arowana Consulting, Wing Group UAE, Dry Dock World Dubai, UPS, Afridi CC, Abu Dhabi Cargo Company, National Pest Control, Active IT Distribution, Standard Chartered Bank, Jashanmal Multiplex, Tiger X1, AMI and Uniforge Bhatkal CC are participating in the tournament. The draw of the tournament will be held on June 28 at 5:30pm at the Dulsco head office in Al Quoz.
