The meeting came as divisions grow in Europe over the proposed tariffs
The 20-over tournament is being organised by Dulsco SC in association with the Dubai Municipality and being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.
Afridi CC’s Usman T stole the limelight in the low-scoring match scoring 24 runs and also bowling a tight spell earlier in the match. He was later adjudged the man of the match.
Jashanmal National Company, won the toss and electing to bat, struggled to put on 100 runs for the loss of eight wickets. They lost their opener Waseem, when he was trapped leg before wicket to Shehzad for two runs. With only six runs on the scoreboard, Chamil walked in at Waseem’s fall. However, he was out before he could open his account after he faced six deliveries.
The other opener, Asanka, carried on patiently and scored 31 from 32 balls to give some respectability to Jashanmal’s innings. He hit two boundaries and one six before returning to the pavilion. After Asanka’s departure Jashanmal batsmen could not put their act together and threw away their wickets with some hasty shots. Darshan (13) and Jino (12) made some efforts to revive Jashanmal’s innings but could not stay at the crease for long. Adnan got rid of Darshan and Waqas got Jino’s scalp as Jashanmal managed to touch the three-figure mark before the last ball of the 20th over was bowled.
Adnan picked up two wickets whilst conceding 23 runs while Shahzad, Hashmat, Waqas and Afridi picked up one each. With as asking rate of five runs per over, Afridi began on a sedate note. Openers Ihsan and Zahid put on 30 runs for the first wicket. Both the openers were removed by Ashish who had Zahid leg before for 17 and Ihsan caught for 15. Mohammed Irfan scored 10 before he was stumped while Usman made 24 before be returned to the pavilion. Rasheed (29 not out) and Shehzad (seven not out), achieved the victory target in 12.3 overs.
Jotun Paints and UPS UAE LLC are the other teams in this group.
