Looking out-of-sorts Eurocon Alubond, put in by ECB Blues, were shot out for a modest 97 in 22.1 overs with Mois Shahid and Ahmed Raza doing most of the damage. Mois took four wickets for 18 runs while Ahmed did even better, snaring three wickets for just five runs to destroy the tentative Eurocon batting line-up. Only Haris Baiegh could offer any worthwhile resistance to a charged-up ECB Blues attack, scoring 34 off 28 balls while Amin Mustafa made 12.
ECB Blues, in reply, did stutter and stumble early in their wickets, losing some quick wickets, but Mohammed Tauqir, better known as an off-spinner, and Mohsin rose to the occasion and sealed the victory in 19.2 overs.
Tauqir, the former UAE captain, scored 29 off 32 balls with two fours and one six while Mohsin chipped in with 21 off 20 balls with four fours to provide the finishing touch to their victory. Nasir Aziz was the most successful Eurocon bowler, returning with a three-wicket haul for 28 runs.
The 25-overs-a-side tournament, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, is also supported by 106.2 HUM FM and CBFS as the associate sponsors.
Brief scores: ECB Blues beat Eurocon Alubond by four wickets. Eurocon Alubond CC 97 all out in 22.1 overs (Haris Baiegh 34, Amin Mustafa 12; Mois Shahid 4-18, Ahmed Raza 3-5).
