In a Pool D at the Global Refinish-Max Way cricket ground, Emirates Aviation College routed Skyline College in a do-or-die battle, which was expected to be the match of the tournament. However, it turned out to be a one-sided affair. Emirates Aviation College piled up a mammoth 198 for 4 in 20 overs with Ali top scoring with 74 not out, including four boundaries and four sixes. Rameez, who made 37 and picked up 6 for 24, was named as the player-of-the-match Sharjah. Zahid with 56 was the other top scorers for Emirates. Zubair, Aamir, Abdullah and Suhail claimed a wicket each for Skyline.
With an asking rate of 10.42 per over, Skyline needed plenty of efforts from their batsmen. However, they lost their wickets in quick succession to a steady bowling from Emirates bowlers. Only opener Sohail put up a decent 28 on board with Aamir being the other batsman getting into double figures with 14. They were eventually bowled out for 79 runs in 16 overs. Apart from Rameez’s 6/24, Zahid claimed 2/21 and Umair 1/14.
In the other match Canadian University scored 136 for 8 in 20 overs against Ajman University of Science and Technology. For Canadian University, Shahyan scored 43 of 28 balls and Omer 28 of 19 balls. Afnan got 3/19 and Faraz picked dup 2/15. Umair made 33 of 33 balls while captain Jackson took 3 for 15 and Omer 2/12 to help Canadian University to win and set up a quarter-final clash against American University Sharjah on November 6 at 9.00 am.
