Both sides were unchanged from contrasting defeats by the West Indies, with England losing by eight wickets on the Duckworth/Lewis method for rain-affected matches despite making 191 on Monday after Ireland had gone down to a 70-run defeat by the hosts last week.

Victory for either side would mean they qualified for the second round Super Eights.

Former Ireland batsman Eoin Morgan was unsurprisingly selected to play against the land of his birth after top-scoring for England with 55 on Monday.
