ESNAAD crowned champs in Division A, NDC win Division B

ABU DHABI — ADNOC suffered defeats in the Division A and Division B finals of the 16th Inter-Oil Cricket Tournament 2010 at the Shaikh Zayed International Cricket Stadium over the weekend.

In Division A, last year’s champions ADNOC Dist. lost to ESNAAD by six wickets, while ADNOC HQ went down to NDC by 147 runs, in Division B.

Thirteen teams from ADNOC Group of Companies took part in the tournament. The tournament was organised by the Inter-Oil Cricket Committee (IOCC), for the ADNOC Group of Companies. The tournament was played in two divisions – Division A and Division B. Division A consisted of the stronger teams who competed for the Inter-Oil Cricket Championship. The Division B teams fought it out for the Inter-Oil Cricket trophy. The winners from Division B earn promotion to Division A for next years’ tournament.

Division A consisted of last year’s champions ADNOC-Dist, Division B winners ADGAS, ESNAAD, NPCC, ADMA-OPCO, ADCO and GASCO. Division B consisted of TAKREER, ADNOC HQ, BOROUGE, ZADCO, the PETROLEUM INSTITUTE and DC.

The tournament was one of the richest in the region with a total prize money of Dh 60,000 and the trophies. The total prize money in Division A was Dh 26,000 and Division B was Dh 23,000.

Division A,

Put into bat, ADNOC Dist made 181 in 29.4 overs. Imran Zia top scored with 78. Mohammed Luqman took four wickets, while Mohd. Badsha picked up three wickets.

ESNAAD reached in the target in 27.5 overs, losing four wickets. Mohammed Asif Ejaz made 60, while Mohd. Badsha scored an unbeaten 35. Saif Khan scored 26. Mohd. Badsha was adjudged the Man of the Match for his all-round show.

NDC made 193 in 29.4 overs after batting first. Imran Ahmed top scored with 53, while Muhammad Usman scored 35. Noor Alam made an unbeaten 31. Arman Akhtar took three wickets, while Mohd. Tariq and Ratish Vadakkeveed picked up two wickets each. In reply, ADNOC HQ were shot out for a paltry 46 in 13 overs. Abdulla Vadakare and Muhammed Usman picked up three wickets each, while Ejaz Ahmed and Imran Ahmed took two wickets each. Imran Ahmed was adjudged the Man of the Match.

Brief scores: Division A: ADNOC Dist: 181 all out in 29.4 overs (Imran Zia 78, Mohammed Luqman 4-34, Mohd. Badsha 3-21) lost to ESNAAD: 186 for 4 in 27.5 overs (Mohammed Asif Ejaz 60, Mohd. Badsha 35 n.o, Saif Khan 26) by six wickets. Man of the Match: Mohd.Badsha (ESNAAD, 35 and 3-21).

Division B: NDC: 193 all out in 29.4 overs (Imran Ahmed 53, Muhammad Usman 35, Noor Alam 31 n.o, Arman Akhtar 3-31, Mohd. Tariq 2-23, Ratish Vadakkeveed 2-32) beat ADNOC HQ: 46 all out in 13 overs (Abdulla Vadakare 3-14, Muhammad Usman 3-21, Ejaz Ahmed 2-1, Imran Ahmed 2-5) by 147 runs. Man of the Match: Imran Ahmed (NDC, 53 and 2-5).
