Eurocon Alubond in Sharjah Cup semis
SHARJAH - Eurocon Alubond rode on a solid team performance on their way to a fine 35-run victory over Ibsons CC in a quarter-final match of the Sharjah Summer Cup, organised by the Sharjah Cricket Council, at the Sharjah Stadium.
Eurocon, batting first, scored a competitive 175 for nine in the allotted 20 overs and then defended the score with a disciplined bowling performance.
Abdul Rehman top-scored for Eurocon with a tidy 45 off 34 balls which included two fours and two sixes. Safdar Niazi (39 off 25 balls), Vikran Shetty (34 off 24 balls) and Harris Baig (23 off 12 balls) further consolidated the innings.
Abdul Rehman Qadir and Umer Reman shared five wickets, but their efforts failed to prevent Eurocon Alubond from posting a decent total.
Ibsons CC, in reply, were bowled out for 140 in the 19th over with Nasir Aziz, who was later named man-of-the-match, taking three wickets for 21 runs. Waqas Alvi and Shadeep Silva further made inroads into the Ibsons CC, picking up two wickets each.
Shaiman Anwar produced a fluent innings of 41 off just 20 balls with four fours and three sixes while Ayub Inayat made a fine 38 off 36 balls, but they lacked support from other premier batsmen.
