Emirates captain Nigel Fernandes said: “I have no words to explain my joy. I just say Wow.

“First I would like to thank our company who provided us a chance by organising such a wonderful tournament.

“The boys have done well to stage a great comeback in last two matches including the final.

“Shahid Afridi had a huge contributionto this victory. He told us to be positive and his confidence has done wonders for us.

“Though he did not play in the final due to injury but he made his presence felt with his performance against Cape Cobras which took us to the final which we won eventually.”

Fernandes added: “It is a great step by Emirates to provide Dubai residents with such a great facility which was long overdue.

“This was the first tournament played on this ground and well-organised one.”

The captain added: “I have to go to my duty at 6am tomorrow and there is little time to celebrate because I will go straight to bed.”

Fernandes concluded: “Cricket is my passion and whenever I get time I play the game.”

Sussex captain said: “We have played a wonderful tournament by winning all the pool matches but faltered in the final. Emirates hit the form at the right moment and they are deserved winners.”
